648 Canyon View
With breathtaking views of the Pacific, this existing Laguna Beach hillside home also enjoys a number of existing nonconformities that required a thoughtful hand when considering this substantial remodel. Transforming the home, maximizing opportunities, and maintaining approvals for the existing conditions proved to be a rewarding and worthy challenge. This home was honored with a 2020 AIA Merit Award, and a 2020 Gold Nugget for outstanding design.

Tucked into the canyon walls at the end of a quiet street, 648 Canyon View enjoys views over downtown Laguna Beach to the Channel Islands beyond.
A pool terrace extends the living space across the site to take advantage of the spectacular ocean view.
The large multi-panel folding door dissolves the corner of the dining room and blurs the boundary between the interior living spaces and the exterior patio.
A semi-formal dining space crowns the greatroom with views to the kitchen, TV, sitting spaces, and even the office beyond.
Anchored against the hillside, the kitchen forms a service spine along the back of the house and enjoys views across the greatroom to the ocean beyond.
At the crossroads of the main floor the living room becomes a perfect space to enjoy the view, or the big game. The oversized greatroom easily accommodates large gatherings while the tight furniture groupings keep the space intimate.
