Sophisticated Family Oasis

Turtle Rock Residence

How do you turn a 1970s tract house into a sophisticated family oasis? Simple. Start by pulling out the clumsy brick fireplaces and the old, tired kitchen to open up the space. Then bring in a new entry, powder room, bar, and a chef’s kitchen. Top it off with a new linear fireplace and an outdoor lounge, and you’ve got yourself true California living at it’s best. Easy and carefree. Time for a cocktail on the patio, don’t you think?

Our vision was a Mid-Century Modern home that was livable, organic, and simple but also sexy.

It needed to be playdate-ready for our toddler, but transform easily into a home for sophisticated adult entertaining.

  • "Throughout the design and construction process Anders made thoughtful and practical decisions - putting resources where it mattered most and cutting back where feasible. His methodical approach was flawless, allowing the design concept to drive decisions one step at a time. When a decision was needed, Anders was there for us, and his frank and honest communication with us and our contractor was a key factor to the success of our project. His ability to educate, listen, and adopt new ideas made our venture a fun and memorable experience."
